Raymond Platt Hendrix, age 89, of Independence, VA, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at his home. Platt was born to the late Cam Worth and Jo-Ella Maude Hampton Hendrix. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, James Hendrix, and his sister, Rosemond Phelps.

Platt leaves behind his beloved wife of 69 years, Anna Lee Hendrix, of the home; his son, Mike Hendrix, also of the home; his daughter, Cathy Wright of Galax, VA; his treasured granddaughter, Tabatha Johnson of Independence, VA; and two great-grandsons, Levi and Luke Johnson, both of Independence, VA; his brother-in-law, Joe Phelps of Salem, VA; as well as a host of friends and his cherished church family from Pleasant Grove Church, where he was a devoted member for many years.

Platt was known as a true jack of all trades. He spent many of his working years with the Blue Ridge Hydro Project, and if something needed fixing for a friend or neighbor, whether it was welding, plumbing, electrical work, or carpentry, Platt was your man. He also had a deep love for farming, hunting, fishing, and simply being out in nature. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Darrin Brannock officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Grove Cemetery. The family kindly requests no food be brought to the home.
