Rebecca Anne Cox, age 55, of Independence, Virginia died on Monday, Jan. 20, 2020 at Twin County Hospital in Galax, Virginia.  She was born on October 25, 1964 in Radford, Virginia to Robert G. "Jr." and Zona Ogle Cox.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Scotty Mathis of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Megan and Chase McCormick of Dobson, NC; son and daughter-in-law, Cody and Cassi Mathis of Wilkes NC; brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Rebecca Ogle of Independence, Virginia; brother, Tim Ogle of Strafford, NC; fur-baby, Daisey; several aunt uncles and nieces and Mary Kay family and several family and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Independence with the Pastor, Rev. Bud Pierce and Rev. Victor Church officiating.  Burial will follow in the Flat Rock Cemetery in Independence, Virginia.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service.
