Richard Thomas Godsey, known as Tommy, age 75, of Independence, Virginia, died at his home on March 26, 2022.  He was born in Logan County WV to Loretta Godsey on April 19, 1946.  He was a member of United States Army.

Funeral services will be conducted on March 31, 2022, at 11:00 at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Chapel by Brother Argil Roberts.  There will be no visitation.  Private burial will follow in the Hackler Cemetery in Independence, VA.

Mr. Godsey is survived by his wife, Opal Ruth Godsey of Independence, VA; five brothers, William McCoy, Danny McCoy, Johnny Ray McCoy, Jimmy McCoy, Lawerence McCoy; five sisters, Jennie Kay Cassell, Virginia Lee Pierce, Ruth Ann Boyd, Sally Jean Bond and Penny White; step-children, Audrey R. Johnson, James Chyenne Bourne, Cody Kyle Bourne, Linda Dixon, Sandy Brown, Joyce Grover, Stephanie Mills, Larry Isom; several step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hackler Cemetery Fund c/o Louise Milgram 109 Vista Road Independence, VA 24348.
