Robert Douglas Delp passed away on January 1, 2023, at Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, NC with his family by his side. He was born on December 7, 1947, to Robert Wilson and Julia Chance Delp. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Doug was a fifth-generation farmer in the Elk Creek Valley who enjoyed traveling and was an avid sports fan who liked playing softball and bowling. He also took up mowing as a hobby by helping mow the Elk Creek Dragway.

He is survived by his spouse, Sara McMillan Delp of the home; daughter, Leslie and Luis Alvarez of Centreville, Virginia; stepson, Chuck Yates of Elk Creek, Virginia; sisters, Joella and Joe Warner of Rockford, Illinois and Nancy and David Sutherland of Elk Creek, Virginia.

Services will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Reins Sturdivant Funeral Home with Pastor Johnny Johnson, Bro. Scott Million and Ronnie Byrd officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery in Elk Creek, Virginia.
