Robert Preston Hash, age 78, of Independence, VA passed away on September 2, 2025 at the Woltz Hospice House in Dobson, NC. He was born on March 11, 1947 in Independence, VA to Harvey Preston and Polly Ann Dowell Hash.

He is survived by four daughters, Sandy and Mark Bair of Wilmington, NC, their children, Jonathan, Mallette, and Marcus; Michelle Stamper of Atkins, VA, her children, Skye and Christian; Gwendolyn and Chris Parsons of Independence, VA, their children, Hershel, and Carson;  and Carmen Hash of Independence, VA; her children, Dakota and Conner; one son, Robby and Nesie Hash of Independence, VA; their children, Eli, Colby, and Aubree; two brothers, Homer and Dorothy Hash and Danny Hash all of Independence, VA; three sisters, Ethel Mabe of Woodlawn, VA, Margaret Sexton of Independence, VA, and Deborah and Terry Sartain of Conway, SC; and one great-grandchild, Taylor, also survives.

Robert was a devoted father, papaw, and friend who loved his church and his family with all his heart. Robert was a quiet man by nature. He found joy in the simple things of life like working on cars, trout fishing, hunting, and tending to his garden. Robert worked long hours through the years raising his children, tobacco, and his garden. He always had a smile on his face and a gentle spirit that spoke louder than anything he could say. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his two brothers, Pete Hash and James Hash.

Graveside services will be conducted on 2:00 PM Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the Gold Hill Cemetery with Rev. RIcky Miller and Rev. Tommy Hampton officiating.  While there will be no visitation, the family will greet visitors following the graveside service.
