Robert Thomas Wilkie, 66, formerly of West Grove, PA and Elkton, MD passed away on March 12, 2020 at his home in Elk Creek, VA.

Born November 3, 1953 in Jeffersonville, IN to his late parents, Henry and Diane (Lutz) Wilkie, Bob lived most of his youth in West Grove, where he graduated from Avon Grove High School.  He worked 35 years for DuPont, retiring in January 2008 as a chemical engineer at the Experimental Station in Central Research and Development. Bob's hobbies for most of his life included astronomy, computers and weather, as well as an interest in UFO's and the possibility of extraterrestrial life. He enjoyed watching Philadelphia sports teams and the wildlife around his home in Elk Creek.

Bob was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother.   He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary Lynn (Billings), son James of Elk Creek, VA, daughter Andrea of Elkton, MD, granddaughters Katelynn Hinckle of Smyrna, DE and Kashlee Wilkie of Elkton, MD, sisters Roberta McManus of Oxford, PA and Robin Nalepa of Newark, DE as well as nieces, nephews, in-laws and extended family and friends.  His love, support, intelligence, and sense of humor will be missed and remembered by us all.

A private memorial service to celebrate the life of Robert Wilkie will be held on April 18, 2020 at 2 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence, VA.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Special Olympics or The SETI Institute.
