Roger Lee Brown, age 72, of Independence, VA, formerly of Ashe County, passed away at the Ashe Memorial Hospital on Monday Oct 13.

Roger was born in Jefferson, NC on May 4, 1953 to Spencer and Virginia Delp Brown.  He graduated from Ashe Central High School in 1972. He served the Ashe County and surrounding area for 38 years as a wrecker and auto transport driver working for several different companies throughout his career.  He was a talented and respected locksmith.  He was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan and a loyal supporter of the Atlanta Braves.  He was devoted to his favorite cat, Fancy.  Roger will be remembered as one who found great fulfillment in helping people.  His passing has left a great void in the hearts of all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Sue Brown of the home; one son, Brady and Kelly Brown of Glade Spring, VA; stepson, Devin and Ashley Phipps of Winston-Salem, NC; one brother, Larry and Joan Brown of Crumpler, NC; one sister, Kathy and Meredith Roark of Deep Gap, NC; One Grandson Maverick Brown, One step-granddaughter Lily Phipps; sister-in-law, Bonnie and Richard Barker of Independence, VA; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joey McClure, Rev. Mark Osborne, and Rev. David Fox officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in the Chestnut Hill Community Cemetery.
