Roscoe Darrel Osborne, age 77 of Independence, VA., passed away June 1, 2025, at the Woltz Hospice House in Dobson, NC. He was born in Independence, VA on July 22, 1947 to Viola and Roscoe Osborne.  Roscoe served in the army and army reserves for 18 years and worked 39 years for the US Forest Service.  His favorite hobby was taking off the whole month of November every year to go hunting

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters; Lorene Pickeral, Shirley Menendez; and one nephew, Michael Osborne.

He survived by his wife, Betty Spencer Osborne of Independence, VA ; one stepdaughter, Lisa Hash and husband  Greg of Mouth of Wilson, VA; one granddaughter, Amanda Hoback, whom he raised as his own and husband Hunter Hoback of Abingdon, VA; other grandkids, Becky and CJ Funk, Emily and Jeff Wolfe, David Hash and fiancé Rebecca, Sandy and Austin Edwards all of Independence, VA.; great-grandchildren Cole & Lexi Smith, Logan & MacKenzie Funk, Abel & Hazel Wolfe, Emma, Brantley, Brayden and Amelia Hash; three brothers, Dale Osborne and Faye of Independence, VA, Dean Osborne and June of Mouth of Wilson, VA, and Harold Osborne and Karen of Independence, VA.; one sister Joyce D'lauro and John of Worcester, PA.; many special nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the Living By Faith Church in Independence, VA. at 11:30 AM with Bro. Derek Cowan officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.  Burial will follow in the Osborne family cemetery on Penford Road in Independence, VA with military honors performed by Grayson County V.F.W. Post #7726 and the United States Army.
