Ruby Maxine Thompson Anders, age 85, of Independence died Sunday, April 12, at Grayson Nursing and Rehab in Independence, VA. She was born July 22 1934 in Independence to Garl Thompson and Beulah Phelps.

Ruby was the widow of Donald J Anders. She is survived by her daughter and spouse Debbie and Sam McCleary of Galax, VA; Three sons Don "Kip" Anders of Lexington, NC; Tony Bolt and special friend Margo Greene of Independence, VA; Terry Thompson and wife Brenda of Independence, VA; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson also survive.

Private family service will be held Tuesday, April 14 at 2:00pm in Reins Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel. Rev Joe Mack Taylor and Rev. Doug Flemming officiating. Interment to follow privately at Salem Cemetery in Independence at 3:00pm Tuesday.
