Mrs. Ruby Pauline Coalson Bobbitt, age 96 of Independence, VA died Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the Grayson Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Independence.  Mrs. Bobbitt was born to late Frank P and Mary Ellen Bobbitt Coalson in Surry County, North Carolina.  She was the widow of Willie James Bobbitt.  In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by her son, Joe Frank Bobbitt and grandson, Freddie Bobbitt and two sisters and seven brothers.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Sue Bobbitt of Independence, Virginia; daughter-in-law, Annie Carrick Bobbitt of Baywood, Virginia; sister, Mary Ivey of Independence, Virginia; brother, Carroll Coalson of Low Gap, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Lola Mae Coalson of Mt. Airy, North Carolina and Vera Coalson of Baywood, Virginia; three grandchildren, Angela Brown, Lisa Parks, and Fiancé, Johnny Bonds, and Bobbi Jo and Greg Roy; five great-grandchildren, Devan, Jarred, Austin, Brittney and Nathan and three great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday afternoon at 2:00 at the Reins-Sturdivant Chapel by Rev. Roger Lee Frost and Speaker Jimmy McKnight.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Independence, Virginia.

The family is meeting at the home of Larry and Sue Bobbitt at 700 Pleasant Grove Church Road Independence, Virginia.
