Samuel Craig "Sam" Cheeks, age, 41, of Elk Creek, Virginia died on Monday, December 6, 2022.  He was born on Feb. 22, 1981, in Wythe County to Hascle Dean and Jo Ann Cox Cheeks.  He enjoyed farming and helping other people.

He is survived by his parents Hack and Jo Ann Cheeks of Elk Creek; one sister Maria Jo and Darren Shepherd of Wytheville, VA; step-daughter, Holly Hoback of Texas; step-grandson, Rhett Hoback of Texas; one niece; three nephews; several great-nieces and nephews;  several aunts and uncles; special friends Steve Taylor and Sarina Johnson also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Burcham officiating.  Burial will follow in the Comers Rock Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Saturday one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 PM at the Funeral Home.  Flowers are appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.  Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home of Independence, VA is serving the Cheeks family.
