Early morning October 25, 2023, Sandra Billings Parks, "Sandy" passed peacefully wrapped in the wings of angels in the comfort of her home. The sun shined bright for an unusually warm autumn day, just the way Sandy would have liked. The leaves hit peak season and colored the Elk Creek valley bright red - her favorite color. It was serendipitous in the way the Lord reminded us of the beautiful life she lived and everything she loved.Her laugh was unforgettable and so was her fried chicken recipe. She loved to spend every moment she could soaking in the sun and with her husband and her dogs.

She is survived by her husband, Sammy Ray Parks of the home; her mother, Barbara Billings of Sparta, NC; three daughters, Andrea and Chris Robbins of Hudson, NC, Janie Cornett of Winston-Salem, NC, and Debbie Semones of Elk Creek, VA; three sons, Gregory and Monica Cornett of Elk Creek, VA, Jody Ray Parks and Jason Channing Akers of Hillsville, VA and Sammy Jackson Parks of Pulaski, VA; sister, Ruby Crouse of Sparta, NC; brother, Rex and Karen Billings of Sparta, NC; 9 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and her Dog, "LIttle J" also survive.

Graveside services and inurnment will be conducted on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Comers Rock Cemetery with Pastor Patrick Sutherland officiating.
