Obituary

Sandra (Sandy to most) Jo Phipps Jennings of Warrenton, VA, passed away on June 27, 2025, at Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton.  She was 74.  Sandy was born May 17, 1951, to Joe W. and Frances Ruth Phipps.  She was a 1969 graduate of Independence High School in Independence, VA, and a 1971 graduate of Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, VA.

Sandy met the love of her life, Ronald Jennings, in high school.  They were married in Independence, VA, on June 25, 1971, & celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary two days prior to her passing.  After they were married, they moved to Stephenson, VA, then to Chantilly, VA, before settling down in Warrenton for the past 43 years.

Sandy and Ronald were blessed with two daughters – Lisa Marie and Anna Leigh, of Warrenton.  She worked for many years with several attorneys in the Northern Virginia area before retiring in 2018.  She made many long-term friendships during her career.

Sandy is survived by her husband, daughters, and sister-in-law and husband, Kathy and Larry Starnes.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother David Phipps, grandparents William and Zella Phipps and Kelly and Lavinia Cox, and her father and mother-in-law, Roy and Mary Jennings.

Sandy never met a stranger and would start up a conversation with anyone.  If you were fortunate enough to have known her you will remember her big smile, her laugh, her love of all animals big and small, especially feeding her birds, her love for reading, her beautiful flowers, her beautiful nails, and spending time with her family.  She may have moved to "the big city" but she was still a country girl at heart.

Funeral services will be held at Bridle Creek United Methodist Church on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 11:00 AM.  Family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 AM.  The service will be officiated by Rev. Danny Nettleton, Shelby Luper, and Christopher Luper.  Pallbearers will be Lewis Phelps, Jimmy Phipps, Larry Starnes, Sr., Larry Starnes, Jr., John Sowers, Roger Bache, Alton Darnell, and Walter Cox Jr.

Flowers are appreciated or you may make a donation to the American Kidney Foundation in Sandy's memory.

Arrangements are through Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence, VA.
