The staff of Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home is pleased to announce our Annual Candlelight Service of Remembrance has been scheduled for Sunday, December 1, at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence, VA.  The families of those we have served from December 1, 2023, until November 30, 2024, will be recognized with a candle lit in their memory.  We recognize that the upcoming holidays are difficult and often rekindle the pain of loss.  It is our hope that this service will not only encourage and support our families, but hopefully offer some helpful coping skills as we move into the holiday season.

We encourage anyone to attend whether you have lost a family member, friend, or hope to support someone who is embarking upon the first holiday season following a loss.  We have heard it said, "grief shared is grief diminished."  This service provides you the opportunity to visit with others who share the common bond of loss.

The annual Wreath of Remembrance will again be placed at the front entrance of the funeral home bearing the names of the individuals we have served.  You are invited to come by and visit the wreath anytime from December 1, 2024, until January 1, 2025.  If you wish to place an ornament near the name of your loved one, please feel free to do so.  Ornaments will later be donated to the local group home.

We also wish to take this opportunity to thank you for entrusting us with this sacred duty of caring for your loved ones.  We continually strive to improve our services and offerings to our community as well as to our families.

We look forward to seeing you at the Remembrance Service as we come together as a community to not only acknowledge our loss, but to support each other during the upcoming season.  Refreshments will be provided after the service while we visit, offering support and encouragement to those who have experienced a loss over the past year.
