Dear Friends,

It is hard to believe that a year has now passed since Michelle and I have assumed operations at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.  We consider ourselves so blessed to have been given the opportunity to serve Grayson and surrounding counties in such a meaningful way.  Among the most enjoyable aspects of our work has been meeting each of you.  The many friendships we have forged over the past twelve months are priceless.  We can never express our appreciation for the confidence you have shown in us by entrusting us to care for your family and guide you throughout the process of providing a fitting and final tribute of respect for your loved one.

While many of us have suffered loss over the past year, we here at the funeral home remain mindful of our own loss of Mr. Dan Walters in October of last year.  We, like you, have grieved his death throughout the year.  And, like many of you, we have been required to adjust our lives and our daily routines in response to his absence.

In turning the calendar recently, I was forced to recognize that the holiday season would soon be upon us.  For those who have experienced loss, the Thanksgiving and Christmas Season can be difficult.  Not only do birthdays, anniversaries and holidays rekindle the pain of loss, they often require us to amend traditions that we have observed for years.    We realize that this season is going to be different for you as it will be for us.  In effort to help us through the next few weeks, we have planned a Holiday Service of Remembrance on December 3, 2022 , at 4:30 in the afternoon in our chapel. Our wish is for this service to bring together those of you who share the common bond of loss and hopefully gain some ideas that might help you assimilate your loss into your holiday plans.  Your loved one will be recognized at this service with a memorial candle.  In addition to this service, we are placing a Wreath of Remembrance at the front entrance of the funeral home. This wreath will include the names of individuals we have served since Oct. 8, 2021.  You and your family may visit the wreath at any time during the holiday season.  Should you wish, bring an ornament to place near your loved one's name.  You may visit the wreath from December 1, 2022-January 2, 2023.  Ornaments will be later donated to a local nursing facility.

Whether you attend the Holiday Service of Remembrance or visit the Wreath of Remembrance, we hope that you find a moment to meet our dedicated staff.  We are so fortunate to have each of them helping us provide you with processional and caring service.  Glenn, Daniel, Donald, Randy, Ellen, Sid, and Wanda have been such wonderful additions to our Reins-Sturdivant Family.  We could not be more pleased with each of them and the individual talents that they bring to our service.

It is impossible for us to notify each member of your family who is sharing your loss, so we are asking that you contact them and invite them to this service.  We also ask that you call and provide us with a number that might be attending as we are planning to provide refreshments.

Please know that our thoughts are with you as you embark upon a holiday season like no other. As you anticipate the holiday festivities and preparations this year, it is our prayer that you will be greatly comforted in the hope that was offered to us in a Bethlehem manger on that first Christmas.
