Sherry Lee Ravelin, age 60, of Galax, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at the Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia.  She was born on June 19, 1964 in Fort Hood Texas to Robert Dale and Bolena Greer Ravelin.

Sherry suffered a debilitating stroke at a young age resulting in permanent paralysis.  Fueled by her favorite motto, "You can't keep a good woman down," she lived her life dedicated to her love of animals, especially dogs.  She was always loving and caring and always concerned about the needs of others.  She often ignored her own plight and pain to show compassion for somebody else in need.  While her family is heart broken at their great loss, they rejoice in knowing that she has escaped the prison of her afflictions.

Sherry is survived by her mother, Bolena Greer Ravelin of Whitetop, VA; daughter, Miranda Mallette of Independence, VA; grandson, Matthew Royal of Wilkesboro, NC; sister Cheryl L. Graham of Whiteford, MD; niece and nephew, April and Adam; and her much loved fur baby, "Pablo."

Memorial services will be conducted on Friday December 6, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Peak officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service.    Private inurnment will follow in the Blevins Cemetery in Whitetop, VA.  Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence, VA is serving the Ravelin family.
