Sherwood Zebie Jefferies, age 85, of New Mexico, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Haciendas at Grace Village in Las Cruces, NM. Mr. Jefferies was born on May 8, 1936, in New York, to the late Carrie Carter and Zebie Jefferies.

Mr. Jefferies was a US Navy Veteran. After retiring at a young age, Mr. Jefferies loved working on his farm. Whether raising thoroughbred and quarter horses, to miniature donkeys and chickens, Mr. Jefferies loved all of his farm animals. After years of farming, Mr. Jefferies enjoyed several other odd jobs, including mowing the grass at the local golf courses, being a dog catcher, and even a jailer.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Jefferies was preceded in death by his loving wife, the love of his life, Barbara Jefferies.

Mr. Jefferies is survived by one son, Jay and Lisa Jefferies of SC; four daughters, Deborah and Pancho Romero of NM, Elizabeth and Darrel Mills of PA, Rebekah and Mark Calloway of VA and Holly Jefferies; seven grandchildren, Robert Gallant of NC, Carter, Brandon, and Zach Jefferies of SC, Luke Schoenfelder of CA, Noah Schoenfelder of PA, and Conner Hildreth; two great-grandchildren, David and Gracelynn; Barbara's children, Terry Edwards and Wendula Hildreth.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022, 11:00AM at the Glade Valley Cemetery in Glade Valley, NC.
