Shirley Ann Parsons Smith, age 81, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025. She was born in Halifax, NC to the late Larry and Thelma Parsons of Ashe County, NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Kevin Bryan Smith. Shirley was an avid birdwatcher and antique collector. She enjoyed flowers, stargazing and watching the cloud formations in the sky. She loved sharing memories of the many family gatherings throughout the years.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Charles Vern Smith; two sons, Charlie Smith and Debbie of Sparta NC, Tommy Smith of Mouth of Wilson,VA; one daughter, Margaret Sobey and Mike of Mouth of Wilson, VA.; one granddaughter, Kacie Walker and Garrett of Pfafftown, NC; one grandson, Cody Smith of Sparta, NC; five great grandchildren, Emma Smith, Peyton, Willow, August, and Effie Walker; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Reins~Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Doug Halsey and David VanHoy officiating. Burial will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery in the Laurel Springs Community of Ashe County, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
