Just as the morning broke on October 24th, 2026, Stanley Arthur Douglas was called into his enteral rest. Stan was born in Jefferson, NC to Paul Sabe Douglas and Irene Richardson Douglas on March 14th, 1952. Stan spent his childhood days living along the New River with his two brothers Brian and Steve, enjoying the demanding but quiet lifestyle of farm life. When in school, he enjoyed playing football and basketball, winning many trophies which he has always cherished. His love of sports carried over into his adult life as he always retained his competitive spirit. Stan married the love of his life Pam, and they enjoyed 54 years of unwavering love and dedication to one another. Stan pursued a career with the Ashe County Public School system as the director of transportation. His dedication to his family also carried over into his work. For thirty years he ensured the safety of every child riding the buses. Stan was a servant at heart, willing to help anyone in need, always putting others before himself. While simplicity was the way of life for Stan, fishing by the river, working in his garden, or just riding the river road on his gator were among his favorite pastimes. Stan also had a special place in his heart for his dogs. While out on his many adventures whether alone or with his family, he would stop and capture a moment, making some of the best photographs, always snapping the camara at the perfect moment. Stan spent countless hours reading to his grandchildren and spending every moment he could with them. He found great joy in imparting his wisdom to his grandchildren.
Stan is survived by his wife, Pam Halsey Douglas of the home: one daughter, Allison Douglas of Jefferson, NC; one son, Derrick and wife, Angie Douglas of Crumpler, NC; two much-loved grandchildren, Sabe and Lettie Jo Douglas of Crumpler, NC; one brother, Brian Douglas of Blacksburg, VA; several nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Steve.
