Starlena Carol Caldwell Boyer, age 54, of Independence, VA passed away at her home on Saturday, July 15, 2023.  She was born on Feb. 5, 1969, in Galax, Virginia to Aubrey Brandt and Nancy Caroline Sutherland Caldwell.  In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her son, Josh Boyer, her paternal grandparents, Clarence and Alice Caldwell, her maternal grandparents, Dewey Joe and Zenna Hale Sutherland.

She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother.  She found no greater joy than being with her grandchildren, Caleb and Emma.

She is survived by her husband, Phillip Boyer of the home; one son, Adam and Natalie Boyer of the home; her mother, Nancy Caldwell of Elk Creek, VA; brother, Andy and Melinda Caldwell of Elk Creek, VA; several cousins, aunts and uncles also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 1:00 pm at the Brush Creek Baptist Church in Independence, VA with Rev. Jeff Pickett, Rev. Cory Byrd and Rev. Tom Burcham. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will follow in the Brush Creek Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International.
