Susie Abernathy Phipps age 90, of Ennice, North Carolina formerly of Independence, VA passed away at the home of her daughter on October 7, 2025.  She was born on March 21, 1935, in Nashville, TN to Arthur Lee and Louise Holt Abernathy.

Susie will be remembered as a kind and loving person who was always found with a smile.  She was a dedicated wife, loving mother, and the best grandmother and great grandmother ever!  She was a wonderful cook who delighted in providing for her family.  She especially enjoyed her Sunday family meals when all the family gathered.  She was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Independence, VA where she was always willing and able to assist in all church functions.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna and Dale Spears of the home; daughter-in-law, Ann Taylor Beamer of Independence, VA; 4 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren, and several great grandchildren also survive.

All services will be private with interment to follow in the Independence Cemetery.
