T.A. Testerman of Troutdale Virginia, formerly of Fairfax and Whitetop went home to be with his Lord and Savior and Shirley Farmer Testerman, his wife of 62 years  on July 12, 2023.   T.A. was born on December 4, 1931 to the late Grover Testerman and Pearle Wyatt Testerman in White Top Virginia.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, granddaughter- Samantha Dell, 2 sisters; Donnie Testerman and Hazel Testerman Hart, and 6 brothers; Howard, Sebert, Junior, Bruce, Raymond and Harold Testerman.

Survivors include his 3 children; Mike Testerman (Linda) Winchester, Va., Teresa Testerman Dell (Paul) of the home, Lisa Testerman Hagenson (Mark) Culpeper, Va.,  8 Grandchildren; CJ & Noah Hagenson, Candy Perkins, Beth Williams, Corey Buttry, Nicholas, Krystal and Matthew Dell.  8 Great Grandchildren, 17 nieces and nephews, 32 great and 22 great great nieces and nephews.

T.A. was a devote Christian that loved and served the lord, his family, church, and community. He enjoyed sharing his faith and was always available to help and serve others.  Several days per week, he could be found visiting people in hospitals, nursing homes and homes to offer love, support and always a word prayer.

T.A. attended school until the seventh grade and then began contributing to the family earnings.  At the age of 21 he was drafted into the Korean Conflict and served in the U.S. Army in Korea less than 5 miles from the front line from 1952-1954 when the conflict ended. Upon returning from the war, he headed north to find work in Northern Virginia and made a great life with his wife Shirley of 62 years in Fairfax and Warrenton. After 35 years he retired from Virginia Concrete Company and they settled in Front Royal for 20 years.  Upon the death of Shirley, he moved back to the White Top area to live with his daughter and Son-in Law, Teresa and Paul in Troutdale.

Over the past few years T.A spent his days visiting friends and family, greeting people at the Konnarock Store, weekly shopping and dining with Teresa in town,  and weekly breakfasts and Fish Fry with his Nephew and best friend, Bill Testerman.  His feline and K-9 companions meant the world to him and everyday you could find him sitting on the front porch with a cat on his lap or "sneaking" the dog's food from his plate.

T.A. was a kind and compassionate gentlemen that cared deeply for everyone he met. He will always be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He never met a stranger and whether he knew you for years or minutes, his parting always included a big smile and a hug. He truly loved each of you and he had a gift for telling stories of his life and a profound impact on everyone that knew him.

After a long battle with Congestive Heart Failure and 100 days in hospitals and rehabilitation,  T.A. went home to be cared for by Teresa, Paul, Matthew and a few special caregivers that he loved with all his heart; Becky Absher, Nora Ours and his great niece Samantha Testerman

Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday at 1:00 PM at the Whitetop Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Vannoy and the Rev. Earl Taylor officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM. Military rites will be conducted by the Grayson County VFW post #7726 and the United States Army.  Flowers are appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to Byars Cemetery Fund C/O Jay Baldwin PO Box          Whitetop, VA 24292.
