Tommy Gwyn Cox, 90, of Grayson County, VA, went home to be with the Lord on March 26, 2025. Born on May 20, 1934, to Gwyn M. Cox and Eva Parsons Cox, Tommy was a man of deep faith, strong work ethic, and unwavering devotion to his family and community.
A proud member of the Gideons, the I.O.O.F., and a Mason, Tommy dedicated his life to serving others. He was a member of Brush Creek Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for 23 years and remained a devoted Baptist for 72 years. Tommy served his country in the U.S. Army before marrying the love of his life, Geneva Boyer Cox, on June 21, 1967. Together, they built a life filled with faith, hard work, and love. Tommy spent most of his career driving tractor-trailers for Hennis & Yellow, where he worked for 33 years. Before that, he worked on an apple farm in Washington State with his uncle and later in a factory in Independence, VA. He had a passion for farming, whether it was cattle, goats, or fruit trees, and he enjoyed tending to his honeybees.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Geneva, his sister Leeanna Cox, and his nephew Mitchell Jeremy Cox.
Left to cherish his memory are his brothers and their spouses, Frank & Sarah Cox, and Joe & Margaret Cox; he is also survived by his niece, Sherry Campbell & husband Scott; nephews, Gary and Laurie Ellis-Bolt, Stephen Cox, Allen and Elaine Cox, Joey and Tonya Cox, Travis and Savannah Cox, and Brandon Cox; many great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins, friends, and his cherished church family.
