Mr. Wallace Kent Parsons, age 87 of Independence, VA passed away on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, at the Alleghany Center Nursing Home in Sparta, NC.  He was born on Jan. 10, 1936, in the Mouth of Wilson, VA community of Grayson County to French and Mattie Wagg Parsons.  He came to the Saddle Creek Community in 1954.  Wallace nurtured a strong work ethic all his life.  He was a life-long beef-cattle farmer who was actively involved in his farming operations until a few months before his death.  He was a dedicated father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He loved being with children.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Irene Parsons Barr, brother, Walter Parsons, and his two children, Judy Lynette Parsons and Joe Kent Parsons.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Phipps Parsons of Independence; one sister, Charlsie Little of Mouth of Wilson, VA; one brother, Dave Parsons of Sugar Grove, VA; one grandson, Brandon and Beth Parsons of Independence, VA; two granddaughters, Ladecca McAllister of Radford, VA and Raquel Hickman and Anthony Denton of Independence, VA; two great-grandchildren, Ivan Hickman and Allysun Denton of Independence, VA; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, Dec. 4, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Osborne officiating.  The family will receive friends following the funeral service at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the Saddle Creek Cemetery.   Memorial contributions may be made to the Saddle Creek Cemetery Fund c/o Pastor Bob Cheeks 492 Twin Oaks Rd.
