The family of Wilma Louise Jones Moxley, 73, of Independence, VA, is deeply saddened to share that she passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, at LewisGale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia.   Louise was born on March 22, 1952, in Jefferson, NC to Arzie and Gladys Jones.  She graduated from Alleghany High School.   She was married to Larry Moxley on June 29, 1974.  Faithful to her wedding vows, she remained a loyal and loving wife throughout her life. She was a much-loved citizen of the Independence, VA community where she an active and supporting member of the Brush Creek Baptist Church for over 48 years. Louise will be remembered for her dedication to Christian service.  She was involved in all aspects of her church.  While her family and her community deeply feel the loss, they are greatly comforted in knowing that her death was but a step into a joyful eternity where Louise heard "enter in, thou good and faithful servant."  She was a dedicated worker offering her skills to a variety surrounding business entities including Haynes Textile, Bassett Walker, Vaughan Bassett, and a cafeteria worker at Grayson County Public School System.  Her workday never ended at the factory as she was always happy return home and continue working providing for her family.  She was celebrated as an excellent cook.  She was especially fond of her grandson, Bradley, and her son-in-law, Kenneth.  Louise lived before us a exemplary life, filled with love and service and we would all do well to follow her example.

She was preceded in death by her father, and her sister, Carol Sue Brineger.  She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Larry Moxley of the home; one daughter, Melissa and Kenneth Nester of Independence, VA; mother, Gladys Jones of Sparta, NC; grandson, Bradley Nester of Independence, VA; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, Jan 11, 2026, at the Brush Creek Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with Pastor Earnie Smith and Rev. Kevin Hopson officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the church.  Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery in Alleghany County, NC. Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence, VA is serving the Moxley family.
