Ms. Zella Mae Pugh Cornett, age 78, of Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, died on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at the Grayson Nursing and Rehab Center in Independence, Virginia. She was born in the Volney Community of Mouth of Wilson, VA on June 19, 1944, to Aubra Holt and Mamie Dowell Pugh.  Zella was a dedicated and loving mother to her two children. She was a hard worker and a member of Volney Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Buck and Richard; her sisters, Susie Pugh and Clittle Pugh Halsey.  She is survived by one son, Jimmy Dean Cornett of Mouth Of Wilson, VA; one daughter, Sherry and Rodger Bobbitt of Independence, VA; grandson, Rodger and Tara Bobbitt of Independence, VA; three great grandchildren, Glenn, Bret, and Taya; one great-great grandchild, Raylynn Bobbitt; one sister Mary Henderson of Galax, VA.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Volney Baptist Church with the pastor, Rev. Doug Halsey officiating.  Private burial will follow in the Pugh Cemetery in Volney.  The body will lie in state from 1:00-2:00 prior to the service at the church.
